WOW. This page is HUGE!
Enjoy!

Remember to send Coach Moon your season goals at rocketman.runner@sbcglobal.net. We'll be picking Secret Buddies at Tuesday or Wednesday practice, so think of what you'd like to get! :)
Team t-shirts are on sale for $15 from Coach Moon. Get them by Thursday, and we'll all wear them to our first meet!  Oasis signs are on sale for $20. Think of how hot it was last week, and how nice it was to have some water during the workout...
Happy running!
Sophia :)

A big thanks to everyone who helped make our Marshall Clark run yesterday such a success!  A special THANK YOU to Gene's Fine Foods, Planet Juice, and Noah's Bagels at El Paseo for donating food.  Thanks to all the runners who donated water or Gatorade.  Who knew running 4 miles could make you so thirsty? :)
Good luck on everyone's first day of school tomorrow!  Freshman: you know a bunch of people at school now, so if you have any questions come find us and we'll help you!!! Practice starts during 7th period, so change quickly and head down to the track.  If you have a 7th period, come asap after the bell rings.
If you haven't already, buy a team t-shirt from Coach Moon for $15!  They're super cool and we can wear them on race days.  Also, Oasis signs are STILL on sale for $20.  Next time you're on a run, remember how nice it is to have a place to stop and drink..
Happy running! Sophia :)

Friday's practice has been moved from 10 am to 1 pm in the pool.  Wear your swimsuit and bring an Aqua Jogger if you have it!  Pool workouts are my personal favorite.. :)  Our Jamba run is after tomorrow's practice, so bring $5.  Coach's t-shirts are on sale for $15 and it would look pretty cool for all of us to be matching at Marshall Clark on Saturday.  Much better than Lynbrook will be, I'm sure. =D
Happy running! Sophia

We had a great first day of practice!  If you haven't been cleared by the Activities Office yet, do that ASAP.  Practice is at 10:00 am all week. If you ever miss practice, go to 'Practice Reports' on this site and I'll (hopefully) have posted the workout for the day.  Coach Moon's team
t-shirts are available for $15, so bring your money to practice and show your XC spirit!
Happy running! Sophia :)

Thanks to Katie, Molly, Christine, Louise, Maddie, Ashley, and Coach Moon for coming to the Wahoo's dinner last night.  We had a blast!  If you missed it, don't worry.  We'll come up with other fun team things during the season, too. :)
We have one more summer run tomorrow morning at 9 am.  Come join us for the last few days of summer!
MANDATORY PRACTICE STARTS AT 10 AM MONDAY, AUGUST 18th.  Things you need to get into the Activities Office before practice begins: Athletic Participation Form signed by your doctor, Steroid Policy form signed by yourself, $200 participation fee, and $90 uniform deposit.  You must turn these things turned in to be cleared and be allowed to practice."Turned in" means before 10 am when we are meeting at the track.  The office opens at 7:30 am, so you have plenty of time Monday morning to get yourself cleared.  If you have any questions, email us back at toga_xc@yahoo.com.  For more information, go to http://falconathletics.tripod.com/ or www.saratogahigh.org and click on Athletics.
The Marshall Clark 4 Miler is Saturday, Aug 23.  It is mandatory to help or run (running is the usual choice for the amazing SHS Girls XC team. Go figure!).  Registration forms are available at www.lynbrooksports.com or http://falconathletics.tripod.com/.  We will discuss more details Monday at practice.
Happy running!
Sophia :)

Our final summer runs are this week!  We will be going to Wahoo's Fish Tacos at 19626 Stevens Creek Blvd after the run on Thursday, Aug 14 to celebrate how much fun we've had.  Since it is a little bit of a far run, we are asking for volunteer drivers to help transport our hungry runners.

Want to come or help drive? Let us know at toga_xc@yahoo.com.

Cross Country 2008 has begun!

Our informal runs will be every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 pm and every Saturday morning bright and early at 9:00 am.  We'll be starting them Thursday, June 19 down at the track, so bring a friend and have fun running!

Oasis signs are still for sale for $20.  These signs are posted by a friendly neighbor, giving us permission to use their hose and stay hydrated! Buy them and help support your favorite SHS runners!  Sophia inherited them from Katrin, so they're in her trunk (still) and will be at practice.

~Coming Soon~

Want to be a Toga XC girl loud and proud? Write a short profile about yourself and why you love to run.  Email it to the captains at toga_xc@yahoo.com and we'll put it on the website!

Happy running!

Your 2008 captains, Ashley and Sophia

Congratulations to Kelly, Katie, Brad, and Alan for qualifying for CCS trials! The trials will be held at San Jose City College on Sat, May 19. Also, great job to Kian, Karen, and Christine who also competed in the SCVAL meet, and to Nicole for winning the 800 as an honorary distance runner.

Mark your calendars for Wed, May 23 at lunch for a meeting about the 2007 cross country season in Coach Jordan's room, room 409. The meeting is for both guys and girls interested in xc. Spread the word and bring your friends to hear about what's in store for this coming season. Questions? E-mail the captains at toga_xc@yahoo.com. Hope to see everybody there!

Katrin

Great job to everybody at League Finals on Wednesday and congratulations to those runners who will be competing at the SCVAL qualifier meet this Friday, May 11, at Los Gatos. The list of qualifiers is here and the time schedule is here.

For those of us who are done with track but have nothing else to do and want to keep running, welcome to the "no-commitment" part of the season. Just keep showing up to practice like usual and there will be someone to run with or you are welcome to join in on the workout for those runners who are "still in the game." Also, starting thinking about cross country. It's sooner than you think...

Brad 20th in Div. 3 ~ Girls 15th in Div. 3

A HUGE congratulations to Brad and the Varsity girls' team for wonderful races at the 2006 State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday!  After a light pasta dinner the night before, followed by Brad's own pasta-cooking in the girls' hotel room, the team slept well, made oatmeal, and drove over to the park in their very spirited Party Van with window decorations courtesy of the girls (and it was very hard to take off. Trust us on this one).  Brad ran an amazing 5:11 mile pace on the 5K course to finish with a time of 16:04, good enough for 20th place and a 33-second PR, all on his 17th birthday.  Happy Birthday Brad!  The girls competed later and finished 15th as a team.  For the 3rd consecutive race, all 7 girls ran PRs, which is unbelievable!  Katie finished 52nd in 19:44 and promptly took a break with the medical crew before she felt like joining the rest of us over at the tent.  Coming next was Speedy in 100th, Kelly in 104th, Karen in 105th, and Katrin in 106th, all 7 seconds apart (20:23, 20:26, 20:26, 20:30).  Christine was 131st in 21:01 and Sophia was 137th in 21:06.  Kelly also decided to take an hour-long break after the race, but felt good enough to eat ice cream on the way home.  For full results of all the races, click here.

Thanks to Coach Jordan for guiding us all the way to the State meet.  I know that when I was a freshman, I thought I would never make it to state because our team was only mediocre and my chance at qualifying as an individual were slim to none.  But this year was amazing.  We have the best girls' team the school has ever seen, and we're going to be even better next year because none of us are graduating.  Going to the state meet was one of the best moments of my life because it was so awesome to experience it with my closest friends.  I know this weekend is one that I will never forget and I vote that we go back next year and beat North Monterey County just to show everyone that we can.

Go Toga! Katrin

GIRLS 2nd at CCS, going to state!!

Good Job At Leagues!!!

This could possibly be the best XC team Saratoga High has ever had. We improved steadily throughout the season and ended it with awesome races by everyone at Crystal Springs! The records page is updated, so be sure to check it out. The entire girls' varsity team PRd at League Finals and all made it onto the All-Time list. Brad Jacobs still holds the #3 time in school history, and Katie Nast is now at #2 for the girls.

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Nye for helping to organize an awesome banquet.

Congrats to the individual award winners:

Outstanding Runners: Brad Jacobs, Katie Nast

Oustanding Freshmen: Nick Olsen, Karen Wai

Oustanding Sophomores: Alan Menezes, Kian Banks, Amanda Speedy

Most Improved: Michael Song, Olga Reshetova

Most Valuable: Kunuk Shin, Katrin Cooper

Captains: Brad Jacobs, Laurel Hui, Rohan Nagesh, Katrin Cooper

And a huge congratulations to everyone for a wonderful XC season! Thanks to all our coaches for helping us the entire way: Coach Jordan, Coach Troxell, Coach Ellis, and Coach Vierra. We couldn't have done this without you!

Good luck to the varsity teams this Saturday at the CCS finals at Toro Park in Salinas. Let's go to State!

GOOD JOB AT CRYSTAL SPRINGS #2!!!

GREAT JOB AT TORO AND CRYSTAL!

Congratulations to everyone for awesome races this week at Crystal Springs and Toro Park! Saratoga came home from Crystal Springs on Tuesday with two individual winners: Brad won the senior boys' race in 15:47, putting him at #3 on the All-Time list, and Karen continued her winning streak by placing first in the freshmen girls' race in 20:39, good enough for #9 on the girls' All-Time list, leading the freshmen girls' team to a first place finish. Also joining the freshmen girls' list at #11 is Sophia, who placed 4th in 21:42. Katie placed third in the sophomore girls' race in 19:04, the fastest sophomore girls' time in school history and #3 on the All-Time list. Kelly ran well in her second XC race and placed 9th in her race in 20:04, which puts her at #3 on the sophomore list and #7 overall. Kian and Alan placed second and third, respectively, in the sophomore boys' race and both went sub-17:00. In the junior girls' race, Katrin was 5th, putting her at #4 on the junior girls' list.

The varsity group then traveled to Toro Park in Salinas on Friday and came home with 7 medals: Brad, Kian, Katie, Kelly, Speedy, Lauren, and Tarini. JV boys' ran well despite only having 30 minutes to warm up, and Michael Song placed 17th and the team was 6th. In the varsity girls' race, Katie was 8th, Speedy was 26th, and Kelly was 29th, leading the team to a 5th place finish. Brad was 5th in varsity boys and the team placed 6th. Lauren and Tarini led JV girls to a 5th place finish, just one point behind 4th place.

Great job to all the runners who improved their time at Toro from the Earlybird Invitational: Kian (-0:25); Kyle (-0:28); Rohan (-0:30); Stephen (-0:28); Nelson (-1:02); Kelvin (-0:57); James A (-0:36); Joe (-0:46); Lauren (-1:54!!!); Olga (-0:44); Laurel (-0:53); Molly (-0:47); Ashley (-1:25!); Lisa (-1:25!); Katie (-0:04); Katrin (-1:22!); Sophia (-1:16!); and Christine (-0:19).

And congrats to Michael Beam for passing his driving test. But he needs to learn where the defrost button is!
